Tribute to Jeffrey Walker
Wednesday September 2, 2009
Zinger will return to economic and political blog on Friday. Today I am morning the loss of a friend.
Today's Zinger:
Goodbye Is Too Final. Salut.
Jeffrey Walker:
I lost a good friend. Jeffrey Walker, musician, artist, family man and President of Atlassian Software Company succumbed to cancer. Jeffrey and i crossed paths well before his current gig. Jeffrey and I worked for the same company for many years. We didn't really work together and we really didn't know each other until my last day at that company. We shared hours together at a local bar in Boston, laughing and sharing our lives. Business was never a topic of conversation.
As the years past we stayed in touch and bigger challenges came our way. Jeffrey and I entered the battle against cancer about the same time. We shared our passion to beat this disease. We each had our arsenal but we shared a common belief in optimism, internal strength and a desire to live. So many people that go through this battle are affected in such a way to beat them down and wear at their inner strength. Jeffrey was someone that never,,,,never,,, would allow negative thoughts to enter his thinking. He met his challenge head on with the full belief that he would win. Jeffrey and I went through this battle several times. Each time we beat it back and laughed again.
Last night Jeffrey lost the battle, however I can say with complete confidence he is now playing his music, drinking a martini and laughing with new friends that are lucky enough to be with Jeffrey in his next gig.
My battle goes on. It never ends. I lost a comrade in the fight but more importantly I lost a friend. Friends in this fight are precious.
I hope you will take a moment to read Jeffrey's blog and tribute from his family and friends.
My condolences to Jeffrey's family.

Those of us who knew Jeffrey will miss him dearly, but I know he's brightening the world where he is now.
Zingerking, keep up the good fight. Just 'cause you're a man down doesn't mean the war is over.
Peace.
